Connect GitHub so agents can read repository context, investigate issues and pull requests, inspect checks, and prepare changes.

Connect

  1. Open Studio → Apps → GitHub and start a connection.
  2. Choose Workspace for shared repositories. Follow the GitHub App setup, choose the account or organization, and grant access to the repositories you want to use.
  3. Return to Ando, review the selected repositories, and give the agent access.
For your individual account, choose Personal and supply the GitHub personal access token requested by Ando. Enable that connection on the agent’s Access tab. Its actions use your GitHub permissions. Ask the agent to read an issue or pull request from a selected repository to confirm access before asking it to make changes.

Choose who can use it

Repository access has two boundaries: what GitHub grants the connection, and what you allow in Ando. Giving an agent access does not override repository restrictions or GitHub’s branch protection and review requirements. Review enabled tools and approval rules before allowing writes or merges. See connection permissions for workspace and personal access rules.

Troubleshooting

  • Repository missing: check the GitHub App installation’s repository selection and the repository limits on the connection in Ando.
  • Installation needs approval: ask an organization owner to approve the GitHub App installation or the requested repository access.
  • Agent cannot act: check its connection access, enabled tools, and the permissions of the connected account. A successful connection does not bypass required pull request reviews.
