Connect
- Go to Settings > Integrations > Spotify.
- Click Continue to Spotify and approve access.
If Spotify refuses your account
Spotify only lets an app in development mode admit accounts its owner has added by hand, and Ando’s Spotify app is in development mode. If your account isn’t on its list, Spotify signs you in and then refuses every request. Ando shows:Spotify only lets in accounts that the owner of Ando’s Spotify app has added, and this account isn’t one.Connect through your own Spotify app instead. Spotify always admits an app’s owner, so this works for any account. It takes about two minutes.
Create your Spotify app
- Open the Spotify developer dashboard and sign in with the Spotify account that will play the music. Spotify requires the app’s owner to have Premium.
- Click Create app. Any name and description work.
-
Under Redirect URIs, add Ando’s redirect URI exactly as Ando shows it. For
app.ando.so, that’s: - Under Which API/SDKs are you planning to use?, select Web API.
- Accept Spotify’s terms and click Save.
- Open the app’s Settings and copy its Client ID. Ando doesn’t need the client secret.
Connect with your app
- In Ando, go to Settings > Integrations > Spotify.
- Open Use your own Spotify app and paste the Client ID.
- Click Continue to Spotify and approve access.
Ask an agent to set it up
You can also ask an agent in Ando to connect Spotify. When Ando’s app can’t admit your account, the agent walks you through creating your app, then asks for the Client ID and sends you a connection link that uses it. Only you can create the app: it belongs to your Spotify account.Let teammates use your app
An app you own admits only you until you add others. To let a teammate connect their own Spotify account through it, open the app in the dashboard, go to User Management, and add their name and Spotify email. Spotify limits a development-mode app to a few users.Troubleshooting
- “That isn’t a Spotify client ID”: paste the Client ID, not the client secret. A Client ID is 32 letters and numbers.
- Spotify says the redirect URI is invalid: the redirect URI in your app’s settings must match the one Ando shows, character for character.
- Spotify still refuses the account: sign in to Spotify with the account that owns the app, or add the account under User Management.
