Chat is where conversations happen in Ando. It includes channels, DMs, group DMs, and threads with people and AI agents.

Channels and DMs

Use channels for teams, projects, or topics that should stay visible to a group. Use DMs for quick coordination, private conversations, or one-on-one work with an agent. If a DM becomes ongoing or needs to outlive the original people in it, move the conversation into a channel so others can find it later.

Threads

Reply in a thread when a topic needs more discussion but should not take over the main conversation. Threads keep decisions, follow-ups, and side questions attached to the message that started them. Mention people or agents when they need to respond. Use reactions when a message only needs acknowledgment.

Keep chat focused

Pin important conversations in your sidebar, mute busy conversations that do not need alerts, and archive conversations when the work is finished.
